Expanded clay blocks

Expanded clay blocks - this is the material that replaced the cinder blocks. Expanded clay or expanded clay gravel has a porous structure, which can improve the performance of noise and heat insulation of walls. They reduce water absorption, making the microclimate inside the building more comfortable. Separately, it should be said about the environmental friendliness of kermazitobetonnyh blocks, reviews about this material are presented on this page. Please note that the material from different manufacturers has different indicators for weight and density, which means it has different technical characteristics.

Responses of developers about expanded clay concrete blocks

We are building a house from Eurocam blocks
A comment
We thought for a long time what to make the house of. We already have a country house made of wood, but far from Moscow. The house constantly requires some kind of work. Therefore, they decided to definitely build closer and not from wood. The choice fell on the Eurocam blocks. In the first year they put the grill foundation. A grillage 60 above the ground and 40 inwards, width 40. Piles every 1m 40cm, 1m 60cm deep, 30 cm in diameter. Even a brick house can withstand such a foundation. The first floor was installed in the second year, in May we are going to put the second floor and roof.

House of 230 sq. Meters from expanded clay concrete blocks
A comment
The following opinion, expanded clay concrete blocks - a profitable analogue of gas silicate, cheaper and more durable. I chose the blocks for more than two months, traveled to all local wholesale bases. I realized that under the guise of expanded clay concrete blocks, massively cold sand-cement blocks are being sold. As a result, it was necessary to carry blocks from Cheboksary, because in the local market the price tags were from 70 rubles apiece. I managed with delivery 43. Moreover, they brought real expanded clay concrete.
pros
Cheapness, durability
Minuses
It is necessary to insulate, however, gas silicate of 300 mm also needs to be insulated according to the norms;

One-storey house built 12 years ago. Not insulated with anything - only lined with bricks. There was no shrinkage. The house is warm in winter (we have frosts down to -39), cool in summer (up to +36).

Expanded clay blocks bath - pleased with her
A comment
I have a bathhouse in the country built of expanded clay concrete blocks. The internal partitions made everything out of brick. Wall decoration in the steam room is made of plaster, foil and lining, in other rooms only with lining.

I didn’t immediately decide to build a bathhouse from expanded clay concrete blocks, I’ll tell the truth. For our population, this is somehow unusual or something, but I took a chance and do not regret it. The heat is kept in the bathhouse well, it was possible to build it very quickly, and it came out okay for the cost, I definitely didn’t give any extra money for it, though I had to wait a while before finishing.

I was more than satisfied with the material, its main advantage is the speed of construction. Plus good technical specifications, the blocks are tight and durable. I advise you to build from them not only residential premises, they are perfect for building a bathhouse, without which the cottage will not be a cottage.
pros
Affordable, fast and reliable.
Minuses
Finishing can only be done after waiting time

He built a house from expanded clay concrete blocks Eurokam
A comment
The house was built 8.9X10.7, a two-story building from expanded clay concrete blocks to Eurokam. The foundation was made in-depth tape, on the first floor the floor was made of factory slabs, on the second floor it was made on T-beams.

The characteristics of the blocks are as follows:

- frost resistance 50f;
- coefficient of thermal conductivity 0.14;
- density is 800 kg / m3;
- block width 40 cm;
- compressive strength - 22.4 kg / cm2.

Heated with gas, heat losses are very small, about 8%. Masonry was done on a warm factory solution, of course, it doesn’t cost at the cost, but there are no errors as a house. The facade decoration was observed in accordance with all technologies, due to which the house will serve me for a long time. I finished it a year later, when the blocks had completely dried up and shrunk.

A good option, but the construction of such a house must be approached with all seriousness.
pros
Quality material, good performance.

Requires shrinkage, cost

Expanded clay blocks - cheap and cheerful
A comment
Before buying these blocks, I read a lot of articles on the Internet, I asked friends of builders about this material. I was very embarrassed by the word concrete in the name of the block (I thought that the walls would get wet from concrete), and the word expanded clay warmed my heart. Here is what a difficult choice I faced! I made a purchase decision after I considered all the financial advantages if using expanded clay concrete blocks.

For external walls, I ordered blocks with four holes, and for piers with two. According to the characteristics, these blocks can withstand the load even of reinforced concrete slabs, but the house is one-story, so I used wooden beams for overlapping.
The box of the house was laid out quite quickly and evenly, because the length of the block was 390 mm and the height was 190 mm. And when plastering, they did not use beacons (the walls are even).
And in the winter it was warm, and in the summer even split was never included.
pros
Low price, light weight, keeps heat well.
Minuses
It is difficult to saw off, it is necessary to lay gaps with a brick.

Expanded clay blocks - practical, convenient, modern. Hard to overestimate!
A comment
Expanded clay is an excellent building material for masonry walls, I write based on my personal experience. A year ago, he built a suburban cottage of 7x8 meters on two floors. Overlappings are made by plates.

I decided to make the walls of the following type: expanded clay concrete block (40cm), extruded polystyrene foam (10cm), then a ventilation gap (5cm) and for greater aesthetics and thermal insulation I covered it with a facing brick.

Now I’m not overjoyed, in the winter it’s comfortable and warm at home, in the summer it is pleasantly cool, the air in the house is always fresh. True, do not forget that large heat losses come not only from the walls, but also from the floor and ceiling, so pay special attention to their insulation.

It took about 50 m³ of expanded clay concrete blocks to the house, by the way, initially the material consumption was calculated using a special expanded clay concrete blocks consumption calculator at one of the sites, which is very convenient and fast.
Yes, and also, in parallel with me, a similar summer house was built by my friend, but out of polystyrene concrete blocks, so even when unloading a third of all the blocks cracked. The conclusions are yours.

thermal insulation, cost, ease of processing

Expanded clay blocks "ThermoComfort" - cheap, reliable, convenient.
A comment
The decision to build a house from was one of the most difficult in my life. Going through a lot of options, I was horrified when I considered the final cost of building materials. Expanded clay blocks "ThermoComfort" accidentally found on the Internet and immediately realized - this is what you need.

Of course, it was necessary to choose concrete blocks for the foundation, but all the walls were erected from expanded clay concrete. On the manufacturer’s website, he easily chose the thickness of the walls and counted the number of blocks. The strength of expanded clay concrete blocks is excellent enough for 2 floors of the house, frost resistance - 50 cycles, you can increase the facing brick.

Of the obvious advantages - price, ease of use, speed of construction, fire resistance. I’ll take it to the disadvantages - additional insulation and appearance, but this is easily fixed.
All in all, these blocks are a great alternative to expensive building materials options.
pros
price, durability, sound insulation, the house is cool in summer even in hot weather
Minuses
it is necessary to insulate, you will need finishing work for the facade
