HEATED THE ATTIC OVERLAP WITH ECOVER LIGHT (thickness 50mm, 30-28 density) insulation height 200mm. vapor barrier, everything is tightly laid to the beams without cracks, the run of the seams is done, in general, everything is science. the result is -20 frost and the attic is all gray-haired from hens and hoarfrost on the heater on top. the conclusion of experts - the insulation transmits heat, does not cope with its task. threw another 100 mm on top .. total))) the same crap - can not cope. in addition, at the beginning of the rack he bought a batch and gave it to a friend from his house, he also insulated a cold attic and, as a result, the same crap - Ecover does not keep heat.

I think to change to something else while I choose between perlite, ecowool and foamglass.
until spring there is time, and there all this frost will flow)))))) it is necessary to have time to change the insulation before the onset of heat.

This is good for a private house, because he constantly needs the participation of the owner. Environmental safety is also an argument in favor of this material. And the stoves do not burn and absorb moisture minimally. The service life of Ecover plates is very long - up to 50 years. I do not pretend to such a service life, of course, but I am sure that 20 years will last without problems. Once in 20 years, you can change the insulation.

I chose basalt wool from Ecover for insulation. She seemed to him reliable, high-quality, environmentally friendly. He told me that now he will have neither mice nor mold in the basement. And the frogs.

He said that now for the remaining 25 years no worries and troubles about warming.

These plates were brought to him. Everything was laid as it should. Of course, in overalls they worked with a half-closed face! They said that they should not breathe with micro-dust. Harmful. He paid them well. For the quality.

Only rejoiced not for long. In winter, everything was fine. Warm, dry. As if the mice were gone. And in the spring, the basement flooded him. And in those places where this insulation with moisture met, the thermal conductivity naturally increased. And all because it is not worth it to insulate places subject to moisture on the basis of basalt fiber.

In winter, these places (spoiled) are much colder. That's the quality!

Conclusion: everything must be done in a smart way and if you use basalt insulation, then only where it is dry and there is the possibility of ventilation.
