What is better parquet or parquet board - comparative characteristic
Today, people increasingly want to decorate their home with beautiful and safe natural materials. Therefore, neither traditional parquet nor parquet board go out of fashion. They have a lot in common - after all, these are close "relatives". And yet: which is better - parquet or parquet board? Having asked this question that is relevant for many, we will try to answer it.
Features of parquet and floorboard
Parquet is planks of solid wood, not longer than 50 cm and not wider than 7 cm. They can be made of various valuable species of wood and have various shapes.
The difference between a parquet board is that it is multilayer. The lowest layer is made of plywood or veneer, in the middle is coniferous wood, and expensive “wood” is used for the “ceremonial” upper layer. The parquet board is longer and wider than the parquet plank. It can have a width of up to 13 cm and a length of up to 2.4 m.
When the parquet is wiped and loses its original appearance, it can be restored by cycling and lacquering. It is enough to just clean the working layer a little. When purchasing a parquet board, many believe that it cannot be restored when worn. This is a common mistake - there is a working layer here. The topcoat has an average thickness of 0.4 cm, and it can be easily cleaned. And one more thing: the advantage of a parquet board is that in production it is covered with a layer of varnish or oil. Parquet is varnished or oiled immediately after installation.
Comparative characteristics of flooring
You won’t immediately decide whether to use parquet or parquet board in your apartment or house. It depends on the goals that you want to achieve. To make it easier to make a choice, you need to compare both floor coverings on different points.
Issue price
Naturally, a monolithic wooden parquet will cost more than a parquet board. Indeed, in a multilayer board, the layer of valuable wood does not exceed 4 or 5 mm. And inside is cheaper spruce or pine wood. The base made of cheaper wood species is designed to increase stability and prevent atmospheric vibrations.
As for the parquet, its board is made entirely of solid, durable wood. For this, quite expensive hardwoods are used. However, a multilayer parquet board may well last a quarter of a century. If it is carefully looked after, then the service life will increase by 2 times.
Easy to install
Parquet board is in the lead here. After all, she, like the laminate, has convenient locks to connect.
Even a novice can easily lay this coating. Therefore, you can save a lot - you won’t have to pay the master-stacker.
Laying parquet is much more complicated, requires additional skills and the involvement of specialists.
Features of handling and care
When laying parquet, it is absolutely necessary to recycle it, and then sand it and coat it with several layers of varnish. Care should be taken of it carefully, using special means. Parquet board is a coating that is completely ready for use. There is no need to additionally cover it after installation, and caring for such a floor does not cause much trouble.
What is easier to dismantle
You can remove the parquet board, laying it in a new way, as many times as you like. The quality of the material will not suffer at all. But with the parquet it will not even be possible to do it once. Do not try to take with you a beautiful parquet to a new apartment. Only time will be wasted in vain, and the floor will be damaged as a result.
Variety of assortment
And here the parquet board is again in the lead again - it boasts an enviable variety. At the parquet there are much fewer drawings, shades and views.
So, after considering the differences between parquet and flooring, we can conclude that the latter ideally combines excellent quality and a very affordable price. And parquet is a classic, sophistication and nobility. If you treat him carefully and gently, he will delight your grandchildren with elegant patterns. But first, think carefully about whether you are prepared for substantial expenses. Indeed, the material itself and its installation will be quite expensive.
