The purchase of a walk-behind tractor was an urgent need for our family. Firstly, we have a rather large plot. Secondly, in the family there is only one man and digging in with a shovel took a lot of time and exhausted. In addition, the site is located on a slope and dries unevenly, this greatly inhibits agricultural work.
We bought our hopper 3 years ago. We took it with an imported engine 168F-2Q, although it is Chinese, but it was too painful the price was tempting, and the warranty was a year. By the way, the neighbors have the same hopper only with a domestic engine of higher power. During this time, it was repaired already 2 times.

pros

Budget price, economical - it takes 10 l to plow 10 acres 2 times (we refuel 92) it copes well with the assigned task

Minuses

Quite dimensional - for 130x55x110 cm in order to be transported to the barn door, where it is stored, one wing has to be unscrewed. They used a rather expensive oil (all the same, a four-stroke engine), but they filled it only once in 3 years. The jamming button has failed, you have to short to ground, the manual starter does not work the first time, you have to pull 3 times.

I have a Khoper 11009ds walk-behind tractor with a single-cylinder diesel engine for 9 horses for 3 years. Compared to the neighboring Neva, this is heaven and earth. The imported engine is certainly good, but the walk-behind tractor should pull well, and not just start well.

pros

The main advantage is a worm gear with a bevel gear, no chains and belts. There is a power take-off shaft. Excellent lugs - pull the plow and cultivator, and not dig the ground. A solid weight of 140 kg, the most for virgin soil, does not jump out of the ground, weighting materials are not needed.

Minuses

An active milling cutter for 8 sections completely sucks, it only scratches the soil, it’s better to take the usual one, the 6th processing strip will be a little narrower, but the handling will increase and it will not break out and jump like that.

This year, the Khoper bought with the Chinese Lifan 168MT engine. I worked 10 acres on the slope - I’ll say that you also need to be able to plow, and the plow must be set up correctly. Out of habit, my hands hurt just brutally. At first, the walk-behind tractor pulled and twisted out of the ground, and at the end it was only slightly held by the handles so that it would not fall on its side; Unit weight 75 kg with a capacity of 7 liters. from. For 4 cutters is enough. 4 knives on one milling cutter with a grip of 80 cm. It is better to go once again than push it forward. In addition, it is still necessary not only to hold, but also to maneuver, so that I see the point in loading it to the limit in order to save 20-30 minutes on processing the garden.

pros

the engine starts easily, there is enough power, maneuverable and easy to operate, a good layout and good balancing;

At first, I was not very pleased with the work, but then, after some improvements, it copes well. In our region, it’s just that the soils are very specific and difficult to process - dense and a lot of stone. Of the main improvements I want to mention self-made wheels with welded lugs 25 cm wide. Only this way you can plow normally. The MQ171D motor has enough power to pull them. If you use your relatives, it simply slides along the surface and you have to push it forward with your hands. For the first time, 4 healthy men on 10 acres got so tired in a day that it would be faster to dig them up manually.

pros

Powerful motor, good reliable milling cutters, low fuel consumption even under heavy load.

heavy soils require large lugs.
